Date: February 1, 2002 - Time: Find It Take It, Make It

There never seems to be enough time, especially now. Everyone is moving at full speed and there's still not enough hours in the day to get everything done. This is especially true for those of us in this industry. What can you do?

Make Lists List making is a good way to not only keep track of things you want to do/buy, but also of upcoming tasks that need to be done, deadlines, etc.

To Schedule or Not to Schedule? Be realistic. Don't, for example, schedule five minutes for something you know will take much longer. Be flexible. Be careful.

Prioritize Once you've made your list, number the items or use the ABC system, A's are most important, B's are second in importance, and so on, in order of priority.

Set Reasonable Goals Set small goals to allow yourself to actually accomplish them, which gives you a great feeling of satisfaction.

Break Tasks into Small Chunks Think of a pizza and cut the tasks into slices. Multi-task Learn to do several things at one time. This applies to women more than men. According to psychological studies, men do better managing only one task at a time.

Reward Yourself The promise of a reward for finishing a task can be motivating.

Eliminate Distractions Let voice mail take your calls. Lock your office door until your project is complete.

Schedule Some Fun Time If we spend all our time doing work related tasks, we get stressed out and become rather self absorbed and boring.

QUOTE OF THE MONTH: The miracle is not that we do this work, but that we are happy to do it. Mother Teresa.
